Our first little tomato

We
went to the pool today for the first time. Emmy really seemed to like
it although the sunscreen I bought was evidently not waterproof nor tear
free - despite it's claims to the contrary. I bought a different kind
tonight - hopefully we won't have swollen eyes next time we go! We let
Emmy have a long morning nap and went to the pool after lunch. Aidan
ran around and "swam" for about 2 hours. He fell asleep in the car on
the way home! We got home and he said "I'm so tired. I don't want to
eat dinner - I just want to go to bed." Although he ate a big dinner, I
thought he was going to fall asleep at the table. On the up side -
both Aidan and Emmy were in bed at 7 pm!

Aidan's class had gone to Huntley Meadows
on a field trip a few weeks ago but I couldn't go with them because
Emmy couldn't go :( This morning we got up and out of the house early
and went over - it was really nice - and empty! We saw ducks:
geese:
red winged black birds:
flowers:
and even a muskrat!!
It
was a perfect day - 68 degrees, sunny, dry, NO bugs! I think it would
be pretty buggy later in the summer so I'm glad we got to see it today!
Here he was on September 13, 2007
Emmy
has been babbling a lot recently but yesterday she said her first word -
duck! Not one that you would find in a pond but the character that she
is holding from Word World.
She has been saying it over and over - so proud of herself for
figuring out how to communicate! I have a feeling that it won't be long
until we won't be able to get a word in edgewise!
making a HUGE mess with corn pudding
up we go!
Emmy pulled the powdered sugar out of the pantry onto her head - not too happy about it!
This is what you get to play with if you have an older brother.
and here's one of Aidan - just for good measure!
and here is a picture in front of the same plants on May 9
They even have flowers on them already!! Maybe we'll get some fruit by the end of June!
Fun with glue sticks:
Emmy level activities:

Aidan has gotten very good at spelling his name...
A new use for recycled tires - lots and lots of little rubber pellets:
